My path to becoming a counsellor began with my own experience navigating the challenges and transitions that many young adults face. During that time, I began my own counselling journey and experienced firsthand the value of having a compassionate, non-judgmental space to discuss life's ups and downs. That experience continues to shape the way I show up as a counsellor today, and it inspires me to offer the same sense of safety and hope to the people I work with.

My career has followed two meaningful paths: working in the natural environment and providing mental health services. While employed as a biologist in government and consulting roles, I became deeply interested in the relationship between our environment and our well-being. Spending years around the forests and waters of British Columbia gave me an appreciation for the connection between environment and mental health, as well as an understanding of the of the unique realities of people working in forestry, wildfire, energy, and other natural resource sectors. Whether you're facing workplace stress, burnout, or life outside of work, I understand many of the pressures these careers can bring.

My years as a biologist continue to influence my perspective as a counsellor. Time spent in nature has reinforced the importance of resilience, adaptability, and connection—qualities I believe are central to healing and personal growth. I believe meaningful change happens when we have the opportunity to slow down, understand ourselves with compassion, and move toward what matters most.

My Approach

I work with people of all ages and backgrounds to create a safe and confidential space where you feel comfortable and heard. My approach is person-centred, trauma-informed, collaborative, and grounded in compassion and respect for your unique experiences. Together, we'll explore what matters most to you, build on your existing strengths, and develop practical tools to help you navigate life's challenges with greater confidence and psychological flexibility.

My work draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Existential Therapy, while also incorporating Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)-informed skills when helpful. I tailor therapy to your individual needs, goals, and strengths. I have also completed additional training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), and I continue to strengthen my practice through ongoing clinical supervision and professional development. Although I cannot diagnose mental health conditions, screening for mental health conditions will be an important part of our counselling process. This screening can provide additional information for you to discuss with your care team.

If you're considering counselling, I'd be honoured to support you as you take the next step.
